PROCESS INFORMATION

In (UOP) Merox Units, where crudes are acidic, Caustic is used to reduce H2S traces and the Mercaptan Sulphur content. Caustic Treating Systems are done with a Pre-Washer followed by a Reactor vessel.

The mixture is then fed to a liquid-liquid separator to remove the water and caustic from the gasoline.

PROBLEMS TO SOLVE

Demister on the exit of Caustic prewash, and a Becophase Liquid-Liquid Coalescer/Separator to remove the Caustic and to prevent product ‘haze’.

a) Prevent droplet carry over from the Pre-Washer vessel to the Reactor vessel.
b) ‘Becophase’ 2-Phase Separator Vessel, or ‘Becophase’ Co-Knitted Coalescer mesh pack for vessel size minimisation.
